Almost a year after being elected a Kansas State Senator, Usha Reddi is now vying to retain her position representing District 22. Manhattan's former commissioner and ex-mayor, who succeeded long-time Senator Tom Hawk, officially declared her candidacy for the upcoming 2024 state Senate election on X.
She shared her announcement on X, stating, "I have just filed as a candidate for the Kansas State Senate in the 2024 election. Public service is a significant part of my life, and I remain committed to serving the people as their State Senator."

She had resided in the United States since 1973 when she immigrated from Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh with her family. In 1987, she acquired citizenship and relocated to Manhattan in 1992, where she nurtured her three children.
After years of volunteering at the public schools attended by her children, she decided to pursue a career as a public school teacher.
She holds two Bachelor's degrees, one in psychology and another in elementary education, along with a Master's degree in educational leadership, all earned from Kansas State University. Five years ago, she married Brian Neuhoff, employed at Kansas State University."
