Arizona State University Celebrates Record 1,800 Indian Graduates in Spring 2025

Tempe, Arizona: Arizona State University (ASU) marked a significant milestone this spring by awarding degrees to 1,800 students from India, the largest cohort of Indian graduates in the university's history.

This achievement underscores ASU's growing appeal to international students and its commitment to fostering a diverse academic community.

  • Total Graduates: Over 21,000 students, setting a new university record

  • Indian Student Enrollment: Approximately 7,000, primarily in graduate programs.

The commencement ceremony highlighted the achievements of Indian students, reflecting the strong academic and cultural ties between ASU and India.

Among the graduates, Omkaar Shenoy from Kerala earned his degree in computer science and contributed significantly to ASU's Office of Media Relations, enhancing operational efficiency through his programming skills.

He is set to begin his professional journey with Aramark in Philadelphia.

Another notable graduate, Ana Girish, completed her degree in aerospace engineering with a focus on astronautics.

She has been hired as an associate product engineer by Solestial, an Arizona-based startup specializing in solar panels for space applications. 

ASU President Michael Crow emphasized the university's dedication to supporting international students, stating, "ASU is a place that is deeply committed to the students who come here. We are expecting more students from India than ever, and we are ready and excited to welcome students who are eager to learn and succeed." 

To honor its international community, ASU hosted an International Student Celebration on May 10, recognizing the diverse cultural and academic contributions of students from around the world.

The university's Indian alumni network now exceeds 20,000, reflecting the enduring connection between ASU and India.
