New York, USA: Priti Dhariwal has achieved a historic milestone, becoming the first Indian American woman to be sworn in as a Councilwoman in Bergen County, New Jersey.
Her inauguration ceremony on January 6 brought together notable leaders, including Bergen County Commissioner Chairwoman Germaine Ortiz and River Edge Mayor Thomas Papaleo, to celebrate her groundbreaking achievement and commitment to public service.
Dhariwal, a certified yoga instructor, educator, and realtor, began her path to leadership as a Cultural Ambassador for India, selected by Rotary International in 2000.
This role fostered her deep respect for cultural diversity and inspired her lifelong advocacy for community development.
Recognized for preserving and promoting Indian heritage in the U.S., Dhariwal’s dedication exemplifies her commitment to serving her River Edge community.
“To bring about change, we must be the change,” Dhariwal remarked, affirming her resolve to drive positive transformation in her town and beyond.
