Dallas, Texas: Richard Verma, Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, reflected on the enduring progress of U.S.-India relations during the 25th Annual Awards Gala of the U.S.-India Chamber of Commerce DFW.
With ties between the two nations stronger than ever, Verma highlighted record-breaking trade, increased defense collaboration, and the growing presence of Indian students in U.S. universities.
Verma lauded partnerships across sectors, including space exploration and technological innovation, while acknowledging areas for growth.
The event also spotlighted the critical role of Ashok Mago, Founding Chairman of the Chamber, in fostering these bilateral ties.
Mago’s support for Verma during his Senate confirmation a decade ago exemplified the shared commitment to strengthening U.S.-India relations.
“Our two countries coming together [are making] the world safer, more stable, more free, [and] more prosperous,” he stated, underscoring the partnership as a cornerstone of modern diplomacy.
Reflecting on his journey from being the U.S. Ambassador to India to his current leadership role, Verma attributed his success to the opportunities afforded by the American dream.
His anecdote about a warm interaction with former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh added a personal touch to his speech, symbolizing the enduring connection between the two nations.
