Indian American renowned mathematician TN Subramaniam passes away.

Dr. TN Subramaniam, a brilliant mathematician from India who founded Route One company and worked with General Motors, passed away in Michigan on Tuesday, March 26. He was 76 years old.

 

Dr. Subramaniam moved to the US in 1979 and became well-known in academic circles both in India and the US for his contributions to mathematics. He helped create mathematical models for GM cars and later started Route One company. This company works with auto-financing for GM cars and GPS systems. He was also behind creating the server for General Motors' site in Troy, Michigan.

 

India's then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had met him and encouraged him to keep innovating and make his country proud.

 

Dr. Subramaniam leaves behind his wife, daughter, and son-in-law, who are working for the Biden administration in Maryland, US. He also leaves his younger brother, TN Ashok, a well-known international blogger and former economics editor at Press Trust of India.

 

Dr. Subramaniam's work and legacy will continue to inspire many in the worlds of mathematics and automotive manufacturing.
