Richardson, Texas— The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) has officially appointed Dr. Prabhas V. Moghe as its next president, effective August 2, 2025.
The announcement was made by the UT System Board of Regents on May 30, marking a significant leadership transition for the rapidly growing research institution.

Dr. Moghe currently serves as the executive vice president for academic affairs and chief academic officer at Rutgers University.

He will succeed Dr. Richard Benson, who has led UT Dallas since 2016.

UT Dallas enrolls nearly 30,000 students across seven schools and is classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity."
Dr. Moghe brings a wealth of experience to UT Dallas, having managed academic and research operations across four campuses and 29 academic units at Rutgers since 2020.
Under his leadership, Rutgers increased its research funding to nearly $1 billion.
Born in India, Dr. Moghe holds degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Bombay and the University of Minnesota, and completed postdoctoral training in bioengineering at Harvard Medical School.
UT System Chancellor James Milliken praised Dr. Moghe's appointment, stating, "Dr. Moghe’s record of strengthening educational pathways and propelling research agendas forward reflect many of UT Dallas’s strengths and continued aspirations."
As UT Dallas continues its trajectory as a leading research institution, Dr. Moghe's leadership is anticipated to further enhance its academic and research endeavors.
