DUNWOODY, GA (ANI) – Desi District, a Texas-based eatery specializing in Indian cuisine, is set to make its debut in Georgia by opening a new location in Dunwoody.
The restaurant has signed a lease to take over the former Chili's Grill & Bar space at 4784 Ashford Dunwoody Road in Ashford Place, which closed this past August after 30 years of operation.
Desi District, known for its fast-casual Indian dining experience, plans to renovate the approximately 5,700-square-foot space to meet its needs. The brand, which launched its first location in Texas in 2017, has rapidly expanded, with six locations currently operating in Texas and new outlets planned for Austin, Frisco, Carmel (IN), Charlotte (NC), and Atlanta.
The Dunwoody location is anticipated to open in early 2025, becoming one of at least two Desi District restaurants in the metro Atlanta area, with another location planned for Cumming in Forsyth County.
The Dunwoody opening will add to the growing list of Indian eateries in the area, following the recent arrivals of Hyderabad House Atlanta and Sankranti Indian Kitchen.
Desi District's concept focuses on providing a modern twist on traditional Indian street food, paired with a neighborhood market atmosphere. This unique approach has garnered praise for its authenticity and variety, offering a fresh dining option for residents and visitors alike.
Ashford Place owner Regency Centers has been actively revitalizing the area, with recent additions including Sushi Kingdom and 101 Bagel Cafe. These developments, alongside Desi District's upcoming opening, are expected to enhance the local dining scene significantly.
This influx of new dining options comes as welcome news to Dunwoody residents, particularly following the announcement of the Walmart Supercenter's closure after nearly three decades in business.
