Ali Sajjad Taj Launches Bid for Assembly: 'One Community, One Future

Artesia, CA: Ali Sajjad Taj, the Mayor Pro Tem of Artesia in Los Angeles County, has officially launched his campaign for the California State Assembly District 67 seat in the 2026 election. 

Taj, who has previously served as mayor of the city three times, aims to bring his vision of One Voice, One Community, One Future ” to Sacramento. 


 

Artesia, known for its vibrant Indian businesses along Pioneer Boulevard, has often been dubbed Little India”  by the local community.

 

Taj, a Pakistani American, has already secured endorsements from a diverse array of leaders across the district, including three-time Democratic Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva, whom he hopes to succeed. 

 

“Together, we will build a brighter future for our communities, focusing on the issues that matter most—education, public safety, affordable housing, and economic growth,” Taj stated, highlighting his commitment to community-led solutions.

 

His campaign is also backed by State Treasurer Fiona Ma, Assemblywoman Blanca Pacheco, Senator Bob Archuleta, and Senator Josh Newman, reflecting a strong coalition of support. 

 


“I believe in community-led solutions,” Taj emphasized. “That’s why I’m dedicated to working side by side with the people of District 67, ensuring that every voice is heard, and together, we can build a future that benefits all.”

Running on a platform centered around improving education, enhancing public safety, affordable housing, and fostering economic growth, Taj hopes to translate his experience as Artesia’s mayor into legislative success at the state level. 

 

His candidacy offers voters a new perspective and a commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive community.
