Houston, TX— Miraj S. Patel, chairman of the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA), has been named Businessperson of the Year by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston. Patel, the youngest recipient in the Chamber’s history, was awarded during the organization’s 25th Anniversary Gala and Awards Banquet on September 21, 2024.
Patel’s achievement comes as he leads AAHOA, an organization representing over 20,000 hotel owners responsible for more than 60% of all hotels in the United States.
He began his journey in the hospitality industry at a young age, working at his family’s independent 30-room property.
Now serving as the president of Wayside Investment Group, Patel’s experience and leadership continue to impact the lodging and hospitality real estate sector.
“I am honored to receive the Businessperson of the Year award from the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston,” Patel said. “This award reflects the hard work and dedication of everyone at AAHOA, and I am grateful to be part of such an incredible network of leaders.”
The award also highlighted the close relationship between AAHOA and the Indo-American Chamber, whose incoming president, Malisha S. Patel, and current president, Rajiv Bhavsar, are both members of AAHOA.
