Edmonds, Washington.: Edmonds College has received a $12,200 donation from the Indo-American Friendship Forum Foundation (IAFFF) to address urgent housing and food insecurities affecting students.
The contribution aims to strengthen the Triton Resource Hub, an essential support center assisting hundreds of students in need.
This initiative underscores the critical role of community-driven solutions in fostering student success.
The funds, presented during a campus ceremony on December 2, will enhance the Triton Resource Hub, which has served as a lifeline for students since its inception in 2022.
Key offerings include a food pantry that benefits 400 students each quarter, emergency funding to prevent homelessness, and a coordinator to link students with vital services like rent and utility aid.
The donation was spearheaded by Indra Jain, a principal project manager with firsthand experience with the students' needs.
Jain highlighted that gaps in existing support programs still leave many vulnerable.
"There are critical needs for food and shelter for students on campus," Jain said. "Our goal is to chip in to support these students so they can graduate and become productive members of society."
The event also featured remarks from IAFFF President Jagdish Sharma and Consul General of India Prakash Gupta, both emphasizing the Indian-American community's dedication to giving back.
Gupta noted, “This contribution is a testimony to the strength and nature of the Indian-American community in the region. They have excelled for themselves and taken care of the region, people, and institutions around them.”
This donation not only addresses immediate student needs but also builds a foundation for long-term academic and personal success.
It serves as an inspiring reminder of how local and international communities can collaborate to drive positive change.
