Dallas Celebrates India’s Republic Day with Passion and Pride

Dallas, Texas, USA: Hundreds of Indian Americans gathered at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial on January 26 to celebrate India’s 76th Republic Day, braving the cold to honor the country’s democratic foundation. 

The event was filled with a sense of patriotic enthusiasm, speeches, and the ceremonial hoisting of the Indian flag.

Key Facts:

  • Dr. Prasad Thotakura, Founder President of the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial, hoisted the Indian flag and highlighted the significance of the Constitution.

 

  • The event paid tribute to key figures like B.R. Ambedkar and B.N. Rao, who played a crucial role in drafting India's Constitution.

 

  • Leaders from various Indian associations and members of the community actively participated in the celebrations.

Dr. Thotakura, in his speech, expressed gratitude to the Indian diaspora for joining in the celebration and highlighted that the Indian Constitution, with its 395 articles, remains the world’s longest written constitution, continuing to serve as a guiding document for governance and civil rights.


Dr. Thotakura praised the attendees for their presence, saying, “I would like to thank the overseas Indians who participated with great enthusiasm despite the severe cold.”

The celebrations saw the participation of key figures including Co-Chairman Tyab Kundawala, Rajiv Kamat, Secretary Rao Kalwala, and several board members. 

The event was filled with patriotic passion as attendees of all ages, including children, came together to pay tribute to India’s rich history and democratic values.
